How to insert an exclusive category in a multiple-choice question

In a multiple question the respondent may find none of the mentioned pre-coded categories to be valid. In such case, you need to insert an exclusive value that can’t be combined with any of the other categories.

  1. Create a normal multiple-choice question with fixed categories. Specify the question text and categories
  2. Specify a “Don’t know any of them” (or any text) category. This can be placed anywhere in the list, not necessarily last.
  3. Select the “Don’t know any of them” row. The row will be highlighted..
  4. Set the “Mutually exclusive category” to ”yes” in the Options/Logic tab. The check box will change to a radio-button.
