How to insert an exclusive category in a multiple-choice question
In a multiple question the respondent may find none of the mentioned pre-coded categories to be valid. In such case, you need to insert an exclusive value that can’t be combined with any of the other categories.
- Create a normal multiple-choice question with fixed categories. Specify the question text and categories
- Specify a “Don’t know any of them” (or any text) category. This can be placed anywhere in the list, not necessarily last.
- Select the “Don’t know any of them” row. The row will be highlighted..
- Set the “Mutually exclusive category” to ”yes” in the Options/Logic tab. The check box will change to a radio-button.
