Setting Manager

Setting Manager is used for maintaining settings used throughout Q_Panel.

Most of the settings are used by Q_Community Panel such as Community URLs, number of reward points awarded for registration and membership events and for defining whether invitations should be shown before or after email is sent.

There are also some settings for Cint related installations, and a Communication setting which defines the default outcome code to be used when an email related to a sample is sent.

From the Maintenance menu, select Setting Manager.

By default, Setting Manager opens with the category Community URLs.  To view or edit the other settings click on the Category drop-down list and select another category.

To edit a setting, select it by clicking on the setting name, or by ticking the check box next to the setting and selecting Properties from the toolbar.  The Edit Setting dialog will appear and a new value may be entered.

The label and description fields are read-only fields so cannot be changed.

Click OK to save the new value or Cancel to cancel changes.

Community URLs

The Community URL category contains two URL settings that may be viewed or edited.  These URLs can be used when emailing panel members from either Import Manager or Panel Manager.  The URLs can be inserted into the email as merge fields or can be used to create hyperlinks.

Community Base URL

This setting contains the base URL for the Community website.

e.g. http://kenticocms.marsc.co.uk/panelname

To use this URL in an email, open the Community merge field folder and select the CommunityBaseURL merge field.

Community Registration Confirmation URL

This setting contains the URL sent to new panellists to allow them to confirm (or activate) their registration.

e.g. special-pages/activation.aspx
The MARSC Activation web part is used for this and must have been set up by the website administrator.

To use this URL in an email, open the Community merge field folder and select the CommunityRegistrationConfirmationURL merge field.

Note that Q_Panel takes care of joining together the [CommunityBaseURL] and the [CommunityRegistrationConfirmationURL] settings and adding the appropriate userguid property at the end.

The final URL in the email sent out to the panellist will look something like:

http://kenticocms.marsc.co.uk/panelname/special-pages/activation.aspx?userguid=a491207b-89cd-4840-81e2-b9745d2a01ce
The userguid property is the ‘UserGUID’ value for the panellist in the Kentico database CMS_User table.

Invitations

When a panellist logs on to Q_Community they can see a list of all the invitations (or samples) they have been selected for using My Invitations.  It is possible to prevent the invitation being shown before an email has been sent out using the following setting.

Only Display Invitations After Email

If the setting is set to No, the invitation will be displayed in My Invitations as soon as the sample job has been run (with output).

If the setting is set to Yes, the invitation will not be displayed in My Invitations until the sample job has been run (with output) AND an email has been sent.  This means any email associated with the sample (apart from test emails), whether or not the panellist concerned has been sent an email, for example, if emails were filtered by quota.  The invitation will be displayed in My Invitations as soon as the email job has been put in the queue, and therefore not necessarily sent.

Note the MARSC My Survey Invitations web part only looks for outcome code -1 (Issued for Sample).  If contact history is updated with an ‘Email Sent’ outcome code, the web part will not display the invitation.
Note that if the MARSC My Survey Invitations web part uses customised Data Filter/Order by options for the Community site then this setting may have no effect as the web part options will over-ride it.

How Invitations are displayed in Q_Community

The MARSC My Survey Invitations web part can be used to display the list of invitations for a panellist.  If the questionnaire URL has been defined for the sample it will be displayed and the panellist may click on it to load the questionnaire.

Reward Points

When a panellist registers with Q_Community they may receive a number of reward points for completing the registration process and/or the membership process.

In addition, if an existing panellist uses Refer a Friend and their friend completes the registration and/or membership process, then the panellist may also receive reward points for the successful referral.

The reward points for each of these events may be defined using the following settings:

Registration Complete Reward Points This setting defines the number of reward points allocated when a new panellist completes the registration process, i.e. when they have confirmed their name, email address, login name and password.  This may depend on the registration opt-in process defined (e.g. single opt-in, double opt-in) and on whether a Registration type profiler is used within the installation.
Membership Complete Reward Points This setting defines the number of reward points allocated when a new panellist completes the membership profiler for the first time i.e. the profiler defined as type Membership.
Referral Registration Complete Reward Points This setting defines the number of reward points allocated when a referred panellist completes the registration process, i.e. when they have confirmed their name, email address, login name and password and/or have completed the Registration type profiler (if it is used within the installation).  The panellist who made the referral will receive these points.  The referred panellist will receive Registration Complete Reward Points, if reward points for this event have been set.
Referral Membership Complete Reward Points This setting defines the number of reward points allocated when a referred panellist completes the membership profiler for the first time i.e. the profiler defined as type Membership.  The panellist who made the referral will receive these points.  The referred panellist will receive Membership Complete Reward Points, if reward points for this event have been set.

How referrals are displayed in Q_Community

One of the MARSC Refer a Friend web parts can be used to allow a panellist to refer a friend.

Note that the screen shots shown for Q_Community are just an example of how the website could look using the MARSC web parts – the exact design and functionality will be different on your website.

The MARSC My Referrals web part can be used to show a list of referrals made by the panellist.

Depending on the referral process defined, the friend will receive an email asking them to complete the registration process.  When they do this and also complete the membership profiler the referral records will be updated as follows:

In addition, the number of reward points allocated to the panellist for the refer a friend events can be shown using the MARSC My History web part.

When the referred panellist logs into Q_Community to view their history they will see the following:

Postcoder Web

The Postcoder Web settings allow you to define settings for address lookup based on postcode.  Postcode lookup can be used with Profiler Address Group questions.

In order to use postcode lookup you must have the Postcoder Web custom plugin installed. A subscription to the Postcoder Web service is also required
( https://www.alliescomputing.com/postcoder/address-lookup).

Postcoder Web Search Key

This setting should contain the Postcoder Web Search Key supplied to you on subscription to the Postcoder Web Service.

Postcoder Web Address Lines

This setting defines the number of address lines required to be populated on recognition of the postcode.  The default is 3, where there are three address lines in addition to town, county & postcode.  If there are only two additional address lines then set the value to 2.

Referrals

The Referrals settings are used to control the number of referrals a panellist can make within a specified period of time.

Note that this validation is only performed when the ‘Refer A Friend’ web part is used, and not when the ‘Refer a Friend Mini’ web part is used or the URL link sent directly.

The number of referrals allowed may be defined using the following settings.

Referral Period

Can be set to Day, Week, Month or Year.

Referral Period Maximum

Can be set to any number which represents the number of referrals allowed within the Referral Period selected.  If set to zero then no referrals can be made.

The default setting is 25 referrals per month.

Q_Survey Integration

The Q_Survey Integration settings are used to define the link between Q_Panel and Q_Survey.  These settings are required for installations using Q_Survey questionnaires as survey questionnaires and/or profilers within Q_Community.

Note that this setting is only available in v7.04 of Q_Panel.

The following settings are required:

Domain Name

This setting is not used.

Security Token

Contains the API security token which provides access to the Q_Survey domain where the project and questionnnaires are located.

If this is set the Q_Survey menu item will be displayed on the left hand side of the Q_Panel screen.  This setting is also required if Q_Survey questionnaires are to be used as survey questionnaires within Sample Manager.

Note that the menu option may appear if the Security Token is populated, but you will not be able to access the Q_Survey projects and questionnaires unless the Security Token is valid.

Questionnaire URL

Contains the base URL for Q_Survey questionnaires.  If this is not set correctly then the Q_Survey questionnaire will not run in Q_Community.
