Adding profiler localisations

All profilers, including deleted profilers, are available for localisation.  Localisations may be added for the main profiler details, profiler pages and questions.  These may be added in any order.

To add a localisation, open Community/Profiler Manager and click on Localisation in the toolbar to display the Profiler Localisation Manager screen.

Select the culture from the drop-down list (in this example French-France).

It is important to remember to select the required Culture from the dropdown list as otherwise it will default to the culture at the top of the list.

Select the profiler to be localised by clicking on the profiler name, or by checking the box next to the profiler and selecting Properties from the toolbar.  The New Profiler Localisation dialog box will be shown.

This dialog box is used to enter the localisation properties of the profiler using the following fields:

Default

This shows the profiler name in the default culture. It is read-only.

Localisation

This is a mandatory field where the localised version of the profiler name for the selected culture can be entered.

Default (Title, Start, Finish, Complete)

These show the profiler notes in the default culture with a separate tab for the header, footer, start page, finish page and complete page.  These are read-only.

Localisation (Title, Start, Finish, Complete)

The localised version of the profiler notes for the selected culture can be entered here. There is a separate tab for each pre-defined page.  The text can be edited to display using the same formatting as the default profiler notes.

Place markers are given e.g. {%ProfilerName%} – these must also be added to the localisation.  They are required if you want to put text before or after the content.

Click on OK to save changes, or Cancel to exit without making any changes.

Any localisations added will be displayed on the Profiler Localisation Manager screen next to the default profiler name.

Note that if the profiler name is localised but the notes are not, the default profiler notes (if there are any) will be shown when running the profiler in Q_Community.

Profiler Page Localisations

Next, localisations can be made to the profiler pages.

Expand the profiler by clicking on the > next to the profiler name to see the profiler pages.  Note that there is an IsLocalised check box next to each page.  This is a display-only field and is checked if the page has been localised for the selected culture.

Select the required page by clicking on the page name, or by checking the box next to the page and selecting Properties from the toolbar.  The New Profiler Page Localisation dialog box will be shown.

This dialog box is used to enter the localisation properties of the profiler page using the following fields:

Name

This shows the profiler page name.  The page name is not displayed when running profilers so does not need to be localised.  It is a read-only field.

Default

These show the profiler page notes in the default culture.  These are read-only.

Localisation

The localised version of the profiler page notes for the selected culture may be entered here.  The text can be edited to display using the same formatting as the default profiler page notes.

Place markers are given e.g. {%PageContent%} – these must also be added to the localisation.  They are required if you want to put text before or after the content.

Click on OK to save changes, or Cancel to exit without making any changes.

The IsLocalised check box next to the page name is now checked.

Profiler Question Localisation

Next, localisations can be made to the questions.

Fully expand the profiler and profiler pages by clicking on the > next to the profiler name and the page name to see the questions.  If there are any group questions you will also need to expand these.

Note that there is an IsLocalised check box next to each question and group.  This is a display-only field and is checked if the question or group has been localised for the selected culture.

Select the required question or group by clicking on the name, or by checking the box next to it and selecting Properties from the toolbar.  A dialog box will be shown.

This dialog box is used to enter the localisation properties of the question using the following fields:

Name

This shows the question name.  The question name is not displayed when running profilers so does not need to be localised.  It is read-only.

Default

These show the question or group notes in the default culture and are read-only.

Localisation

The localised version of the question or group for the selected culture can be entered here.  The text can be edited to display using the same formatting as the default question notes.

Click on OK to save changes, or Cancel to exit without making any changes.

The IsLocalised check box next to the question or group name is now ticked.

To add localisations for another culture select a new culture from the Culture drop-down list and repeat the process.

To finish adding localisations select the Close button from the toolbar.

When a panellist with the preferred culture French-France now logs on to Q_Community to look at the available profilers, they will see the French-France localisation for this profiler.  All other profilers will still display the default name.

If the panellist runs the profiler they will see the localised version of the profiler notes also in French (for this profiler).

Clicking on the Next button to begin the profiler will show the first page.

In this example the Question text has also been localised using Question Group Manager.

The Finish page will show the localisations as follows:

Finally the Complete page shows the localisations:

The localised profiler name may also be seen when the panellist views their MARSC history whenever the profiler is completed or updated.
